Philosophy
I believe that students construct knowledge and meaning through their unique experiences. My goal is to cultivate a dynamic learning environment where students actively shape the curriculum and take ownership of their educational journey. To achieve this, I design lessons that connect with their daily lives and personal interests, fostering authentic engagement and a deeper understanding that extends beyond the classroom.
Risk-taking is a cornerstone of my teaching approach. Inspired by my experience as a jazz guitarist, I emphasize the importance of stepping outside one's comfort zone in the creative process. Whether improvising a solo or exploring new ideas in class, I encourage students to embrace challenges, view mistakes as opportunities for growth, and develop confidence in their abilities. Through collaboration, we build a classroom culture where taking risks is not only supported but celebrated.
